The history of La Truite Dorée
The story of the Golden Trout is one of those where the accent that tells it already transports us elsewhere. It's a story that's been passed down from generation to generation.
All you have to do is close your eyes and listen.
Located on the village square, the first trout is the meeting place for Vers and the surrounding area. Here, life is made and unmade. Every event has its place here, the traditional Easter cake, the Coque, is honoured here, and the opening of the fishing season is an opportunity to open a bottle. Dressed in Sunday best, families and friends enjoy a Sunday meal where they have fun, discuss, argue and sometimes get angry, only to be reconciled. If there's a banquet, it's often at La Truite. After saying yes, the bride and groom toast their happiness with their guests. The village café is also the place where the first telephone was installed, and where the first television in the village broadcast black and white programmes.
